Youth Intervention Network

Status: complete

The goals of the Youth Intervention Network (YIN) were to (1) increase the number of juvenile offenders in Lane County who receive substance abuse treatment by providing centralized screening and assessment to all juvenile offenders; (2) improve the effectiveness of substance abuse treatment for the juvenile offender population by providing a coordinated system of care for the juvenile and family; and (3) reduce juvenile crime, especially violent juvenile crime. Youth at high risk to re-offend received the most intensive YIN services, with less intense services provided to other juvenile offenders. Communication flow among all the YIN partners allowed for early identification and reward of progress, as well as early identification and sanctions for non-compliance or problem behaviors.
