10 Key Components of Drug Court Technical Assistance to SAMHSA Adult Drug Court Grantees

Status: complete

Project Purpose: This project involved technical assistance to 22 Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)-funded adult drug courts. Through a subcontract from JBS International, NPC conducted technical assistance with a focus on practices that fell within the 10 Key Components of Drug Courts. Specific activities for each site’s technical assistance included administration of an online self-assessment, interviews with drug court staff, and a 3-day site visit with observations of drug court meetings and sessions. NPC then synthesized the findings from the assessment, interviews, and observations; developed a set of recommendations; and convened a video conference with the drug court team, NPC staff, and at least one nationally recognized drug court expert to discuss the findings and recommendations. In addition, NPC provided each site, JBS, and SAMHSA with a written report containing the assessment information and detailed recommendations.

Funding Source: JBS International, through funds from the United States Department of Human Services’ Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
