The Douglas County Drug Court, which started in 1996, works with adult offenders. The NPC process evaluation involved qualitative key stakeholder interviews of 23 individuals involved in the development, implementation, and/or operation of the drug court. The evaluation also included a focus group with drug court graduates and a review of the drug court’s information system. NPC lauded Douglas County for its successfully operating a drug court on very little money, but also recommended that the county pursue supplemental funding for new staff and program enhancements. Other recommendations included improving information sharing and overall communication, and taking steps to enhance database management and ensure a more thorough level of database knowledge and maintenance.
