Evaluation of the Chittenden County (VT) Drug Court

Status: complete

Project Purpose: The goal of the project was to improve service delivery and outcomes for justice-involved individuals with substance abuse disorders and trauma histories by changing the way the drug court team members and community treatment and other service providers approach such individuals. The evaluation included process, outcome and cost studies based on data from the courts, substance abuse treatment providers, and criminal justice systems. NPC also assisted the court team in updating their court’s management information system.

Project Design: The process study included an on-line survey, document review, direct observations, interviews and focus groups with key stakeholders including professionals from the court, probation, and substance abuse treatment, as well as program participants. The outcome and cost studies included data systems assessment, database design, and quantitative analyses of multiple agency data sets.
